Vane Position Feedback
The sensor reports vane position; the separate VGT control solenoid meters the engine oil used to move the mechanism. Position-feedback faults and control-solenoid faults require separate diagnosis.
⚠️ Early LLY Applications
Use the included electrical adapter where required on 2004.5-2005 Duramax LLY applications.
Related Fault Codes
- P2563: Turbocharger vane position sensor performance.
- P2564: Turbocharger vane position sensor circuit low voltage.
- P2565: Turbocharger vane position sensor circuit high voltage.
- P003A: Turbocharger boost-control position exceeded learning limit.
Code availability and definitions vary by model year and calibration. Fault codes identify a condition to diagnose and do not confirm component failure. Check wiring, connectors, and related systems before replacement.
Diagnosis Before Replacement
Compare commanded and actual vane position and test the sensor wiring, including any adapter. A sticking vane mechanism, oil-supply problem, or faulty control solenoid can also cause position-tracking or learning faults.
Installation Notes
Allow the turbocharger to cool. Protect the sensor lead and keep debris out of the opening. Follow the application-specific installation procedure.
⚠️ Turbocharger Vane Position Relearn Required: After installation, complete the GM Turbocharger Learn procedure for your vehicle and verify successful completion.
