MAP Sensor Operation

The sensor measures absolute pressure, which includes atmospheric pressure. Its reading differs from gauge boost; low or high circuit input describes an electrical signal fault, not simply low or high boost.

Diagnosis Before Replacement

Inspect the pressure passage or MAP hose, connector, and wiring. With the key on and engine off, compare absolute manifold pressure with barometric pressure using the vehicle-specific tolerance. Investigate charge-air or turbo faults if the pressure signal tests correctly.

Installation Notes

Keep debris out of the pressure opening and inspect the MAP hose or seal as applicable. Follow the vehicle-specific installation procedure and verify live pressure after replacement.

Coverage excludes damage caused by incorrect wiring, physical damage, or improper installation or misuse, including resulting water intrusion. Claims require dated proof of purchase.
